Instant Profile Refresher

Make these easy changes to your Instagram bio in order to make it more discoverable, more engaging and more targeted to your ideal client. These simple swaps = more followers, more fans and ultimately, more real time customers.

  • Optimise your profile for search by keeping your business name to your @ handle, and using a more descriptive term for your bio header. For example, I might use @juliabraime as my handle and Creative Business Mentor UK as my bio header. Both are searchable, so this way you get two bites of the search cherry!

  • Use a profile picture that will encourage connection with potential followers. Choose a clear, sharp image, that's easy to see even when displayed very small. Go for your brand colours and use a face if possible - extra points for eye contact and a smile!

  • The most important info should be displayed at the TOP of your bio. Don't expect your potential followers to expand your profile to find the juicy bits! Hook them early with the key facts they need first.

  • Make your bio easy to digest at a glance. Use bullets or emojis to add brand personality and break up the block of text. Make sure that potential followers can see what you want them to - quickly and easily.

  • Add a link to your bio but beware of using hashtags unless they are your own. If you are encouraging your potential followers to leave your page, you want to be sending them to somewhere that they can find out more about your business. Make sure that the end destination is what they expect - your website branding and tone should be a fit with the way you present on your Instagram profile, to keep the process seamless.
